Cover track copyright

Post by Juliabird »

We want to record an acoustic session with some local bands, and stream the content online. The gig is for a commercial company, but not to make any money - purely to generate content for our website.

Are we ok to do cover tracks? Do we need to gain copyright permission? If so who are the best people to contact? Is there an equivalent of the Harry Fox Agency in the UK?

Thanks - this forum's great by the way.

Hi Julia,
Yes you need permission to perform covers of songs and/or music. The UK equivalent of Harry Fox is PRS for music: http://www.prsformusic.com/
