hi all again ok another slant on my previous post the tracking system i have developed is classed as database any thoughts on how i would stand with copyright for a database i have produced and the conection of it to microsoft excel ( it was developed using microsoft excel ) cheers again if anyone can help clear this one up for me

Well, yes....
Your actual spread sheet and the database system would I believe constitute a copyright work.
In terms of databsaes, the actual 'application' (i.e. the code you wrote, the screens, graphics, etc. that you created) would be subject to copyright. A collection of data may also by subject as 'database rights' (if that is applicable).

Ok thanks for that info

now that throws up yet more head scratching, i had tried every avenue to get an answer to my question even microsoft themselves but all they did was direct me to their legal departments on line answers to everything and no matter where i went for a definitive answer no one but no one could give me an answer, so i decided to give up on as i belive a great idea, but now you have thrown that in i may push ahead with setting it up as a purchasable system and then see what sort of reaction i get from microsoft?? . thanks again for your help
