Use of quotations

Can I copy a quotation from a website and then give it out in handouts to the people? Would this be considered as making multiple copies?

Clearly it would be making multiple copies.

If in doubt - get permission from the copyright owner of the material you wish to quote - he/she would probably appreciate the publicity this would generate for their site and gladly give permission.

if one were to use it for criticism or review, that should be okay, isn't it? let's critique the quote or use a text from a website for criticism and review
