Thanks Andy......Citizens advice don't really want to know, and solicitors need £500-600 just to review!. They have been told way back in August that steve@<restaurant> is nothing to do with the business and to stop sending him information, yet they continue to do so.

Am awaiting my client's view on this.

I'm sorry that the CAB don't want to take this on. Unfortunately they probably lack access to specialised IP legal advisors. There aren't many pro bono legal advisors working in this sector. As for the solicitors, I am surprised at the fees they have assessed for this work. It might pay to shop around.
If Stockfood or their collection agency continue to contact the wrong person they are in danger of falling foul of the Civil Procedure Rules concerning the pre-action protocols, including service of the particulars of claim, should things escalate to that level.

would love to know the outcome as I have also today received copyright infringement from stock foods for £2250 unless paid within 14 days £855.

Of course I will take down the image but seriously!
This pricing is ridiculous!

I feel it in my right mind to take it down and just leave it be.

In my experience Stockfood are actually reasonable. You do not want to receive a letter from Getty as they will not even try and reach an amicable solution. One [point to remember is they have and do lose vast amounts of income through even non malicious uses of images. Work with them and they usually work with you.

Personally I don't think using extorition is reasonable. In fact I think its despicable!

Yes, I do understand this and extortion of course is not good. What I mean is that some photo libraries seem to and do work with infringers more than others.
However, some of the fees to seem a bit 'unusual' in nature. It certainly is a problem that will not go away quickly and working with a library and often induce a better income. In our experience those who have received letters and don't bury their head in the sand usually have a better outcome.
