Hi, I'm a singer/songwriter in the U.S. I often use poems by established poets for my songs. So far I just want to ethically share these songs with friends over the internet, but might eventually record a CD of them.
One of my song uses Marion Angus's poem "Mary's Song." Any advice on how to get permission? Or if it's in the public domain?
Thanks
Mary

Hi Mary,
As Marion Angus died on 18 August 1946 her work will enter the public domain on 1 January 2017 (that is, 70 years from the end of the year in which she died). However if you don't want to wait for six months, you can contact her literary executor via the Scottish Poetry Library. If you are asked to pay a fee, bear in mind that you will only need a licence for six months!
