I want to know if old school photos can be used for displays and other educational pupose in a musuem context. We have permission from photographer but not from subjects (people) as locating them all would be very difficult now. However the names of the subjects in the photos will be available to viewers. All the subjects in the photos are over 18 now. Can we display these photographs with names of individuals?

I think the best answer I can give is: Probably Yes
It is true that an individual can object to the use of their image, but this will normally only be where the image or its use is deemed to derogatory or defamatory.
Personally, I would still be ready prepared to remove an item if anyone did object, if only to keen the natives happy
